Create a Bra
for a Good Cause
Comfortable in Your Own Skin was created by Jackie Lenox, a recent BFA graduate of Adelphi University. |
Grab your needle and thread, heat up the glue gun, bring out the beads, trims and paint. The Creative Cups™ Design Exhibition invites you to create decorated and themed “bra art” to benefit Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. Inspired by the ArtBras project developed by Victoria Brown, founder of the Way to Women’s Wellness Foundation, Creative Cups Design Exhibition celebrates the lives of those living with breast cancer and those lost to the disease.
There are no parameters for theme, design or media, although all bras must be created in a tasteful style. There is a $15 entry fee per bra and each entry must be accompanied by a paragraph (250 words or less) detailing the inspiration or dedication of the artwork. You’ll find all the specifics, along with a downloadable registration form, at http://creativecups.adelphi.edu or call 800-877-8077. You can also link to the site through www.distinctionmagazine.com. All entries must be received by November 1, 2008, to be included in the auction and gala on March 19, 2009, in Adelphi’s Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City.
Since its inception 28 years ago, Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program has provided coun-seling and outreach for breast cancer patients and their families.
